Gravity is a performance-based installation that explores trust, dependency, and imbalance within shared systems. The work unfolds through the relationship between bodies, sound, and tension, asking how individuals rely on one another while negotiating instability and control.
Using responsive materials and live interaction, the piece creates a shifting environment where movement and sound influence one another in real time. Actions are felt rather than observed, and connection is constantly tested through pressure, resistance, and release.
Rather than presenting a fixed narrative, Gravity exists as a condition. It examines how support and vulnerability coexist, and how balance is never stable but continuously renegotiated between bodies and their surroundings.
This multi-channel audio was captured directly from the performance system. All ambient noise is removed, leaving only the sound’s internal trajectory—its shifts in intensity, timing, and movement—so the structure of the sound itself becomes audible.
In Gravity, sound, movement, and light are bound within a single responsive system shaped by tension, impact, and gravity. Stretchable appendages and downward, force-driven gestures alter the trajectory of spatial audio, while voice and motion simultaneously trigger the lighting environment. The wearables are constructed from the inside out, concealing ropes and rubber within soft structures engineered to endure force without rupture, remaining elastic enough to be violently pulled.
All sensing systems were developed through sustained exposure to failure. Stretch, resistance, circuitry, and sound form a fragile chain, where collapse at any point could trigger total breakdown. Each performance revealed new fractures, which were absorbed, rebuilt, and recalibrated. What emerges is not a perfected device, but a condition held together through accumulated decisions, endurance, and risk—where control, exposure, and safety are continuously negotiated, and the system appears organic only because of what has been resolved beneath the surface.
